i would like to install a mid-mount mower on my 1983 1210.my question is can i use a 60 in deck and what do i need to hook it up (tractor does not have a factory installed mid pto)any info anyone could give me would be very helpful.......thanks jimmy

I think most anything can be done, but the cost might discourage the idea. There are rear to front pto conversion kits available. I don't have a mid-pto either. I was interested in a front snow blower but the cost of the conversion killed my interest pretty fast. The conversion would have been as much as the blower.

One of the problems with a conversion is that direction of the drive has to be radically changed several times. The angles far exceed the capabilities of u-joints, so expensive gears have to be used. In addition, the direction of rotation has to be reversed (I think) and the 540-rpm speed increased for most mid-pto implements. The conversion also would have lowered the tractor's ground-clearance.
